Solid Rock lead worship: Sunday 23rd November 2008
It was great to have our youth group, Solid Rock, lead the evening service on Sunday 23rd November 2008 - it was also encouraging to see so many of the adult congregation come along to encourage them.
Our time together started with an excellent powerpoint presentation of the week's notices and a short history of the church and youth group. Abby, Nigel and Stuart worked hard in pulling the service together - but none of it would have been possible without the enthusiasm and contribution from the Solid Rock members themselves. On the night they led a dance/song worship routine, put on a short play about inviting friends to church, took part in the readings and held up prayer sheets - and a youth music group led the worship. During the evening Nigel and Abby outlined the 'In Their Shoes' project for 2009 - with its emphasis on the Persecuted Church - they also launched the Hope initiative whereby the youth group will seek to 'serve' the wider church family in the early part of the new year. Nigel preached on the letter of Timothy.
It was a wonderfully encouraging and uplifting evening - and for those of us who came along and sat in the congregation a chance to be led in our worship of God by our young people. Many people left church with one question on their lips: when is the next one!
