Yeovil Baptist Church

Junior Church

Junior Church east CokerWe meet together on Sunday mornings at 10.30
in the main church then, after an all age talk and prayer, we leave the service to join one of four groups:

There is a crèche for babies and toddlers up to 3 years of age

‘Pebbles’ caters for children from 3 to 6 years (pre-school to Year 1)

‘Flintstones’ includes 6 to 11 year olds (Year 2 to 6)

‘Boulders’ is for young people who attend secondary school.Youth Music Group

The Junior Church sessions end at the same time as the main church service.

We follow the Scripture Union syllabus ‘Light Live’.
Our sessions introduce Christian beliefs and promote faith in Jesus and livingby Christ’s teaching through Bible stories, drama, games, singing,
playing hand chimes and percussion instruments, art and craft,
prayers, discussion and importantly by the example
of the teachers and helpers.

Junior Church ChristinhgleWe aim to provide a happy, safe environment,
age appropriate learning experiences and we encourage our children and young peopleto use their individual gifts and talents.

Children of visitors attending our morning service are
very welcome to join our Junior Church sessions.

Parade LoveOn the 3rd Sunday of each month we all return at the
end of the church service and one group shares what
they have been doing and learning, with the congregation.

Children who play musical instruments are encouraged to play during morning worship every now and then.

On the second Sunday in the month from September to Easter,
instead of meeting in our groups, we stay in church for an all age service
which the Girls and Boys Brigades also attend. There is no staffed crèche
on these Sundays, however, toys are available in the Huish Room for
babies aged 3 and under, accompanied by their parents.

To celebrate the end of the Junior Church year in July, we organise
a fun afternoon for families with games, a bring-and-share tea and
communion to which all the church family are invited.

During the school summer break, when many children are away
on holiday, the three oldest groups meet altogether.

We follow the guidelines set out in the Baptist Union’s
Safe to Grow document.
